Satoshis (Sats)
Satoshis, or Sats, are the smallest unit of Bitcoin, named after its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. One Bitcoin equals 100,000,000 Sats.
How Sats Work
Just like cents in a dollar, Sats break down Bitcoin into tiny, usable amounts. This allows users to transact in Bitcoin without needing to own a whole coin, useful as the asset grows in value. For example, 10,000 Sats equals 0.0001 BTC. Many wallets and exchanges now support displaying balances in Sats to make Bitcoin more accessible to everyday users.
Why Sats Matter
As Bitcoin adoption increases, Sats make it easier for new users to participate without being intimidated by high BTC prices. They also support microtransactions, tipping, and other use cases that require small denominations. Emphasizing Sats helps shift the perception of Bitcoin from a store of value to a spendable currency.
